The Kid in the Red Jacket

I think meeting the main character, Howard, changed my head by making me reflect on the difficulties of being the new kid at school. This book provides examples that support my opinion, for instance, Howard moves away, and does not know anybody in his new surroundings. Also, the book changed my head by allowing me to experience loneliness from Howard’s perspective, such as when Howard switched schools, he did not have any friends right away. This book taught me to be friendlier and more welcoming to the new kids that will come to my school. This book had a big impact on me and changed my thinking process.

I think meeting the main characters changed my heart by understanding how special and important friendships are. Also, the book demonstrates how delicate friendships can be. For example, when Molly says “don’t get divorced from me” Howard understands her feelings and reassures her saying they will be good friends. The author shows the fragile nature of friendships when Howard starts being mean to Molly, and as a result, Molly is very upset.

This novel changed me by making me realize you should never leave anybody lonely and making friends is always important because in this book friendships are what save the main character. Also, the book The Kid in the Red Jacket taught me that when you make new friends, you get to meet new people, you get to see new personalities, and get introduced to the real world.
